What data the app stores

Fibo stores dog profiles (name, breed, age, weight, life stage, health goals, optional photo), health logs (weight and feeding entries), ingredient and measurement preferences, your pantry (ingredients and scanned dog-food products, with any prices you type in), and saved recipes and meal plans on your device using Apple's SwiftData and AppStorage frameworks. If you are signed into iCloud, this data also syncs to your private iCloud database (CloudKit) under your Apple ID; we cannot read it.

Sign in with Apple (optional)

If you sign in, your Apple identity token is sent to our server once to verify it with Apple, and we issue the app a session token. We store your Apple User ID (a pseudonymous identifier) to meter usage. We never receive your password. Sign-in is optional.

Recipe generation and photo body-condition checks

When you generate a recipe or meal plan, or request a photo body-condition check, the app sends the request to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic, PBC to power the AI engine. The request includes your dog's profile, ingredient lists, calorie target, and — for body-condition checks — the photo you select. It is sent over HTTPS, used solely to generate the response, and subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Our server keeps a monthly usage counter but does not store your dog's data or photos.

Camera, barcodes and label photos

The Pantry tab can use your camera to scan the barcode on a bag of dog food. Barcode recognition happens on your device; only the barcode number (UPC) is sent to our server to look up the product. If a product isn't in our catalogue you can photograph its label: that photo is sent to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic (as with body-condition checks) to read the printed ingredient list and guaranteed analysis, then discards it. We never store label photos. Product facts you confirm and submit are stored in our catalogue without any identifier linking them to you.

Pantry sync and recall alerts

So we can warn you about FDA recalls that affect food you actually own, the app sends the barcodes (UPCs) of the products in your pantry to our server, where they are stored keyed by your pseudonymous identifier (random install ID or Apple User ID) — never with names, photos or your dog's profile. Removing everything from your pantry deletes those rows from the server. If you allow notifications, your device's Apple push token is stored so we can send you a recall alert; disabling notifications for Fibo or deleting the app removes it. If you subscribe to Fibo+ and record what you paid for a bag, those price entries (price, bag size, date) are stored under the same pseudonymous identifier to show you price history.

Analytics

The app sends a small number of first-party usage events (e.g. "onboarding completed", "recipe generated") tagged with a random install identifier or your pseudonymous user ID — no names, emails, photos, or advertising identifiers. No third-party analytics or ad SDKs. We do not sell, share, or rent any data.

Purchases

Fibo+ subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We receive a signed receipt from Apple to unlock your subscription; we never see your payment details.

Shared recipes

When you share a recipe, the recipe is encoded inside the link itself, including your dog's first name as shown on the share card. Anyone with the link can view it.

Children's privacy

Fibo is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Data retention and deletion

App data lives on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud database. Deleting the app removes on-device data; iCloud data can be removed in Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Fibo. Server-side usage counters expire automatically and contain no personal content. Pantry barcodes are deleted when you empty your pantry; push tokens are deleted when you turn off notifications or when Apple reports the device is gone.
